About KOVAX

History

KOVAX has its roots in the automotive painting techniques of its founder. Paint and sand, then paint and sand again.
Our founder's painting techniques were named after the town of Kanasugi in Shitaya, Tokyo (now Negishi, Taito City, Tokyo), where the paint shop was located, and he came to be known as "Kanasugi Meister" in the automotive fender painting business for his "Kanasugi-nuri".
Due to the Great Depression in 1929, it became difficult to obtain foreign-made "waterproof abrasive paper," which is indispensable for painting work, so, after much trial and error, we succeeded in producing "Waterproof Coated Abrasive Paper.” We began supplying the product to its competitors who needed it, and it became the talk of the town, leading KOVAX shift its focus from the automotive painting business to the manufacture of "Waterproof Coated Abrasive Paper”. Since then, we have been producing it for about 100 years.

In addition to controlling the number of substances subject to the PRTR Law (Act on the Assessment of Releases of Specified Chemical Substances in the Environment and the Promotion of Management Improvement ), emissions of hazardous substances into the atmosphere from solvents and other substances used are greatly reduced by the treatment equipment.
In addition, KOVAX will contribute to carbon neutrality by using solar power generation for the electricity that we use in many manufacturing processes.
